Entries are now being accepted for the year 2018, the Television Academy Honors, which celebrates programming that educates, informs and motivates audiences around the world.
Applicants can submit, visit the television Academy website TelevisionAcademy.com/Honors in order for your entries. Winners will be announced during the week from.
Created to recognize and reward “TV with a Conscience”, the honor award recognizes programming that explores issues that our society in a compelling, emotional and insightful way by social change.
Entries can be made for fiction or non-fiction book series submitted:
As a whole.
For a single episode.
For a story arc up to three episodes.
TV-movies, miniseries or fiction/nonfiction specials and short-form programming can also be provided.
2017 honoree reflects some of the most popular and relevant shows, specials and programs on television and in the scope of delivery included:
Before the flood (National Geographic) − Oscar-winning Director Fisher Stevens, along with Academy Award-winning actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio for the film centered on the protection of the planet. Hailed as “a rousing call to action,” the film shows a riveting account of the dramatic changes around the world due to climate change and the measures we can take to prevent its catastrophic failure. Last week tonight with John Oliver (HBO) – Engaging, deeply researched stories and topics brought to the fore that may have escaped the attention of the audience. Speechless (ABC) – This is a family-centered Comedy tells the story of JJ DiMeo, a young man with cerebral palsy, and deals with how his family, injustices, struggles, both real and imaginary. The show explores living with disability and the challenges and joys that come with it, including the search for independence, respect and the search for a voice. This Is Us (NBC) − A provocative ensemble drama, This Is Us the stories of a family at different stages in your life. The emotionally honest, cross-generational drama explores a number of topics such as marriage, adoption, racial identity, body image, and hurdles of parenthood in a way that creates an open dialogue.
